My name is Ty Smith. I am a professional guitar teacher located in Naugatuck (New Haven County), Connecticut USA. I have always believed that the pursuit of any discipline in the arts stimulates the imagination, fine tunes motor skills and is generally good for the soul. Learning a musical instrument can be a wonderfully rewarding experience, regardless of the style of music you pursue.
I have been playing guitar for 40 years, since I was a lad of 10, and I have been teaching for the last 30 years, offering private lessons at a very affordable price. Now, at age 50, I still genuinely love my craft and enjoy interacting with students of all ages* and levels! Lessons are given in the comfort of my home studio.
You will learn to read music notation, guitar notation and tablature. I shall teach you the benefits of music theory, improvisation and good technique. As you progress I will help you with learning to master the songs that you want to play. I am available 6 days a week and I look forward to working with you.
Rates and other Info:
- Lessons in my studio: $22 per 1/2 hour.
- Lessons are payable monthly on the first lesson of the month.
- Student is responsible for attending all lessons.

Learning to play guitar is not an easy thing to do --especially when you are in your 40s. I feel as comfortable with Ty as I do with my own brother. Even if I have a bad week and play my lesson poorly, Ty is very patient,kind & understanding. I always leave my lesson feeling encouraged. Besides this, I feel that Ty is an excellent guitarist and a very cool & funny guy. My guitar lesson is one of the high points of my week. I absolutely adore him and I strongly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn to play guitar.
